Weeds
A massive problem for all block paved driveways and patios is the regrowth of weeds between the joints. Whilst our cleaning process will remove weeds and the application of an active biocide will delay the regrowth of algae and biofilms, and dry kiln sand will fill the joint gaps, niether of these will stop the regrowth of weeds. This is the responsibility of the home owner to do the maintenance required on a regular basis.
However the good news is we can offer a long term solution. We can apply a polymeric sand.
Polymeric sand is a blend of fine sand and chemical binders that hardens when activated by water, creating a durable, concrete-like joint between pavers for patios, driveways, and walkways, effectively preventing weeds, insects, and erosion while offering a clean finish and long-lasting stability. It's swept into gaps, compacted, and then gently misted with water, making it a popular, high-performance alternative to traditional jointing sands for hardscaping. This offers a great solution and will ensure that your block paving will remain weed free. Typically you can expect to pay an additional £6 to £8 per square meter for the application of polymeric sand, on top of the cleaning price. Please enquire if this is of interest.

Driveway and patio cleaning of block paving requires a meticulous process, this may typically include applying Sodium Hypochlorite with a scent mask. Depending on the level of grime, we might employ powerful hot water system to effectively lift dirt. As part of the process, if required, we apply an active biocide which will delay the return of algae and biofilms. Additionally, depending on the joint width, we brush in kiln dried sand or 3mm pea gravel to finalize the work, ensuring a polished finish. On average, cleaning a 50 sq meter in the UK takes about 3 to 5 hours, though drainage and weather conditions can impact the process, particularly during resanding.
Typical pricing for an average size driveway of block paving in average condition is £5 to £7 per sq meter this price includes: removal of weeds and moss between joints, removal of Lychen, algaes blackspot and biofilms, cleaning of steps and edging stones, application of sodium hypochlorite, resanding using kiln dried sand and a total site clear up and rinse down of slashed contaminated surfaces. Prices can be reduced should you chose to do your own sanding.
WEEDS between joints will always return unless treated. We can use a polymeric sand which sets hard and will prevent the regrowth of weeds. This typically adds additional £6 per sq meter to the cleaning price.
